The Ultimate Experience Gift Giving Guide (Pt. 1 Kids)

The Ultimate Experience Gift Giving Guide (Pt. 1 Kids)

Shopping for gifts can be really hard, especially for kids! There’s SO MUCH stuff you can buy for kids. It can be so overwhelming!! If you’re shopping for some kids in your life I really encourage you to start by asking yourself if they NEED anything. If they do, that’s great! that just made your life a little easier, but if not, thats okay also!

Below I’ve put together some awesome experience related gifts to try. These are alternatives to loading them down with toys which they’ll most likely stop playing with after the first week or two.

(PS: This list is geared more towards toddlers and younger kids because thats all I know!)

When people think experience gifts for kids the first thing that comes to mind is most likely Zoo passes. While that is a GREAT idea, you can also do smaller and less expensive activities!

  • Day trip to the zoo

  • Take them to a museum

  • Local shoes ( Peppa pig live, Monster Jam, baseball game, ballet etc…)

  • Mini golfing and Ice cream

  • Plant a garden or some flowers

  • Play centers in the area

  • Movie theater night

  • Outdoor painting day

  • Take them to a class. (sometimes local libraries and other places have one day cooking, crafting, baking, etc.. classes for younger kids)

  • Ask them! Do whatever they chose for a day!

  • Farmers markets/ you pick farms

  • Go paint pottery or a piggy bank!

Kids love doing activities! Signing them up for some ongoing classes would be such a great gift!!

(Make sure to check their local park district!)

  • Gymnastics/ tumbling

  • Horseback riding lessons

  • Cooking

  • Ice skating

  • Music lessons

  • Crafting

  • Dance

  • Sports camps

  • Sewing

  • Pottery

  • so much more!

I know this is “technically” considered stuff, however it doesn’t count in my book because it helps kids develop creativity and independent play!

**Buying glitter for small children is not advised**

  • Art kits

  • Model building kits

  • Paint / paint brushes

  • pipe cleaners, pom poms, etc..

  • Paper & stickers

  • Glue, tape, etc..

  • Make supplies with them! (Diy crayons, Play dough, paint, etc..)

Gifts that keep on giving are defiantly some of the best kinds! Here are a few ideas to last all year!

  • Zoo memberships

  • museum/ play center memberships

  • Once a month “date” days for kids.

  • subscription boxes (There are SO many topics to chose from)

  • Swimming pool membership/ passes

  • Donate to their college fund or start one!

Hopefully you found something on this list helpful, or at least found a direction to go when it comes to gift giving! If you have any other ideas or something you love to do with kids I’d love to hear below!
