OUR STORY.

It all started when we realized we were sick of being "house poor". We had "all the right things" on paper… A 4 bedroom house with a full basement and more room than we knew what to do with. I was driving my dream big black SUV that I had always wanted and thought I "needed". On the outside looking in, we had the "perfect" life, keeping up with the Joneses….. except we didn't. We didn't have the extra cash to live how we wanted to!

Flash forward a bit….we finished Dave Ramey's Financial Peace University, which totally changed our mindsets! (I totally recommend checking it out, btw!) We sold our house, sold our car, and practically everything else we owned. I'm really not joking; we were headed into the hospital to have our third kid, and the night before, we still didn't have a car. My husband drove to Chicago to buy one only HOURS before we had to be at the hospital! (A little bit of a close call).

We prayed a lot about precisely the lifestyle we wanted for our kids and us in the future. That included a farmhouse and five acres somewhere for practically no money! We definitely thought we would end up settling for something in town, but to our surprise, we found EXACTLY what we prayed about! The only catch was it was smaller than we had planned….

There starts our journey into the "minimalist" lifestyle. Living with 5 people in a two-bedroom, 1 bath 800 sq ft. house! That's how we found minimalism, and I would not trade that for anything…but since then….

We have always loved flipping houses, and that was what we wanted to do…only we didn't have the money. Our minimalist lifestyle and living below our means have since allowed us to move forward with house flipping…only not in the traditional sense. We bought flip houses and lived in them while fixing them up at the same time…

Flash forward again, and we were able to purchase my parent's home with 5 acres! We have a few horses and other random animals running around these places. As I sit here and type this, the sun is coming up in the most beautiful sunrise, and I can't help but be so grateful for everything we have been blessed with. I truly believe that God ordains everything in life. While I would never have guessed the path we would have taken to get where we are today, I'm so thankful, and we are truly blessed to be able to call this home.

The point is sometimes you have to do some "crazy" things by everyone else's standards to get to the end goal. Don't be so focused on keeping up with the Joneses. Water your grass, decide how you want to live and what it will take to get there. I promise less stuff = life-changing.

Have any questions?!? I'd love to chat with you!
