Anyone else think it’s CRAZY how fast kids outgrow their clothes?!? It feels like I’m changing out clothes every other week almost!
The only thing worse than packing up all the clothes and putting them away is opening up a box and having to go through TONS of clothes the next time around.
I’ve got a few tips and tricks to hopefully keep that from happening!
Here are a few reasons to get rid of it
If you didn’t use it the first time
It may be super cute and might have the tags on it still.Be honest with yourself, if you didn’t use it the first time odds are you won’t use it the next time. Don’t keep it in a box for another two years only to not use it again, someone else will probably get some great use out of it!
2. If it’s ripped or stained
You might be thinking to yourself “I’ll get this out when the next one comes”. You won’t. Just don’t put anything in the box that’s ripped or stained unless you would actually let your kid wear it like that! No judgement if you would because there are totally outfits I keep that might have a stain or two =) Just make sure your not just holding onto them because you feel like you should.
3. You have an overabundance
Chances are you’re going through the clothes and have TONS, especially if its’ your first. I totally get it would be easier to just throw them all in the tub and call it good, please don’t. Really look at each thing!
Did you use it
Would you use it again
Are you keeping it out of guilt (hello gifts)
Do you already have 25 pairs of pj’s in the box
4. Holiday stuff
I had three boys in three years…and NONE of them could wear the clothes I had saved.(up until 12 month stuff). It was either wrong season or they just grew different! I have found that hanging onto the holiday things and the super super seasonal things just hasn’t been worth it! Unless you have kids born in the same month or two that grow the same its going to be a gamble if they can wear the stuff or not and its not worth it to me. Obviously that’s your call to make and everyone is different, just something to think about!
Okay, now here are a few reasons to keep stuff
It was one of your go to outfits!
You know what I’m talking about, we all have those few outfits that we just gravitate to and :LOVE. Put them in the box!
Essentials
Good condition Pjs, white onesies, swaddles, jeans, etc.. the basics that kids can wear no matter what season (or gender). Just be careful not to go overboard! Make sure you actually used them before!
Just because
I have this adorable little girls dress that I have just been hanging onto. Even when the last three were boys and I finally got rid of all the other girls clothes. Why? Just because I’m not ready to get rid of it. THAT IS OKAY! I am also hanging onto each kids take home outfit and one or two from their newborn stage. I’m not entirely sure what I’ll do with them but they have a home and are not taking up much room so I’m 100% okay with that.
Now how do I store them?!
Vacuum seal bags are seriously the most brilliant invention ever! I am able to just use one tote for each gender. It all fits great in there even with clothes for three boys!
Just don’t forget to label them=) I have attached some cute labels you can tape to the bag or stick inside just to insure you don’t forget!
