I’m all about meal planning and saving loads of money while doing it….. but there are days when the last thing you want to do is cook a “real” dinner!
We have all been there and most of the time thats when you order the take out or delivery. So I thought I would share my top 5 meals I always have on hand in order to make sure the delivery doesn’t happen… (At least not every time :).
Super easy tomato soup and grilled cheese!
It’s bread, cheese, and a can of microwave soup……thats it! So Simple yet saves about $35 when I don’t buy dinner out! Plus its almost guaranteed that everyone will eat it! Bonus points if you dip your grilled cheese in ketchup like me!!! :)
2. Tater tot casserole!
This one requires some cooking…but overall its one of the easiest meals to make!
Here is a great and easy recipe to try if you’ve never made it!
( I normally use canned peas for the veggies)
Again, this one is a major crowd pleasure at our house… leftovers are never a thing when we have this!
3. Tuna melts!
This one is great for a quick lunch or dinner! This recipe is pretty close to the ones we make at our house the only substitute is pickles instead of jalapeños and bread not english muffins!
4. Good ole fashion frozen pizza!
I for the life of me can not bring myself to get pizza delivered when we have frozen pizzas in the freezer (unless its planned). Are they as good? no. but do they cost like a fraction of the price… yep:)
5. Spaghetti and garlic bread.
Couldn’t get any easier….
1 box of spaghetti, 1 can of sauce, and 1 box of garlic bread. A lot of times I like to make my own sauce and garlic bread, but I ALWAYS have this on hand for those days where I really want to do the bare minimum.
and a bonus one…. because why not?!
6. Chicken sausage veggie bake
Simply chop up a package of chicken sausage and throw it on a baking sheet along with whatever veggies you have. We normally do Brussels sprouts, peppers, broccoli, zucchini, pretty much whatever you need to clean out. Toss it in some oil and bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes.
IT’S AMAZING and healthy!
Some other things I really like to have on hand are….
rice
pre made salad mixes
frozen broccoli (Cheesy broccoli is my fav)
brats (for grilling season)
frozen orange chicken ( Costco fav)
Hopefully that gave you a few ideas on some meals to keep on hand so you can keep your budget on track! I would love to hear your “on hand” meals and add some more to my collection!
